TCC's Disaster Recovery Program is funded by The Corporation for National and Community Service and places VISTAs (Volunteers in Service to America) all around Texas. Bonnie Mallott and Marianne Lawson, TCC's Co-Directors of Disaster Recovery, are the Project Supervisors for the VISTA members. History

TCC formed its Disaster Recovery Program in November 2005. We concentrate on long-term recovery, preparedness, and mitigation, working with communities throughout Texas.HPIM1947.JPG

The Corporation for National and Community Service awarded our first Americorps*VISTA grant June 11, 2006. We are placing twenty Americorps*VISTA members and a VISTA Leader around the state responding to the long-term recovery needs of Hurricanes Dolly, Ike, and other disaster survivors. VISTA stands for Volunteers in Service to America, and each Member provides a year of national service to their site.

Since the inception of this program, our VISTA Members have helped their community organizations collect $8,044,045 worth of resources. This includes the value of the time spent by 5,571 community volunteers that the VISTA Members helped recruit, manage or otherwise assist.
