Bithos

Executive Director

The son of an Orthodox priest, He completed his dissertation in December 2001, reading for his doctorate under Professor Andrew Louth at the University of Durham, Durham England. His doctorate degree reflects two disciplines, Orthodox Theology and Byzantine History. His thesis is entitled, Patriarch Methodios I of Constantinople, Churchman, Politician and Confessor for the Faith. Dr. Bithos' research interests are the Theology of the Icon, Church and Byzantine History, and twentieth century Orthodox Theology and Ecclesiology. Presentations at the University of Oxford, University of Athens at Patmos, Greece, York, England, Swansea, Wales and Bishop Auckland in Durham, England comprise a range of a variety of theological subjects. He has served as a member of a teaching mission to Albania and has lectured at the seminary in Durres. Fr. George has directed the TCC since 2004. He has been married for thirty-seven years to his wife, Ria, and they have two grown, married children and two grandchildren.

Teresa
Nira

Business Manager

Teresa Nira, Business Manager, joined the staff on May 11, 2005. She has thirty years experience in ministry that includes teaching, rural ministry, social ministry, and legislative advocacy. She was born in Hondo, Texas, but traveled throughout the U.S. because of her father's military career. For the past twenty years she has been a lay Associate of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a Redemptorist congregation of sisters based in Monroe, Michigan. Terry earned her M.P.A. at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and her B.A. from the School of Natural Sciences, both at the University of Texas at Austin. She continued her post-graduate studies at the University of St. Thomas in Houston and St. Edward's University in Austin in the field of religious studies. Her hobbies include playing the trumpet, singing, twirling, drawing and writing.

Mary Ramirez

Mary was born in La Port, Texas and grew up in Stafford-Missouri City. She married John Ramirez, and they lived in Houston. They have five children: four sons, Jamie, Johnny, Deadrick (who will be deployed to Iraq in August), Adrian and a daughter, Mary Lou. John was transferred from Texas Instruments in Houston in 1987, and the family moved to Austin. Mary worked in the field of child-care with AISD for several years. She joined the TCC in September of 2005. She enjoys crocheting, arts and crafts, reading scripture, and play time with her grandchildren. Mary and John enjoy volunteering at the Mercy of God Prayer Center in Austin, and are members of St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Austin, Texas

David E.
Walker

David E. Walker joined the staff on August 29th, 2005. He had been working as a freelance web designer for two years previous, and still continues in that capacity as sole proprietor of TheoWorks Web Design. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1984. Thereafter, he taught school school from 1985 to 2000. In 1999, David began studying electronic publishing and web design at Austin Community College, where he received an Associate of Applied Science, Digital Publishing and Graphics Technology in 2003. After graduation, he began freelancing as a web designer.
